Osteochondritis dissecans

An osteo chondral lesion, also known as osteochondritis dissecans, is caused primarily by trauma. Osteonecrosis is an alternate etiology. It is most frequently seen at the tallar dome and the femoral condyles. CT and MR arthrography can be helpful in establishing the stability of the lesion

Findings
Medullary infarcts occur at the metaphysis
They are frequently multiple
They usually show well-defined dense geographic borders
They are frequently seen in patients on systemic steroids and sickle cell patients
