Paget's Disease

Pagets disease is likely caused by a virus. The initiating event revs up osteoclasts, resulting in a lytic lesion. The osteoblasts then lay down bone. Paget’s disease therefore has three phases: Lytic, Mixed, and

Sclerotic. The hallmark

disease are: Increased density,

 Increased size, and Coarsened

 trabeculae. Complications

 include deformities, fractures,

 premature OA, and/or

 sarcomatous degeneration
