How to interpret a bone tumor film

-When you are dealing with case of bone tumor, just remember the following :

1-You can not differentiate between malignant or benign, but just you can say that this lesion is aggressive or not.

2-Remember that you are dealing with a patient which has a bone containing a tumor.

3-In the patient, the age is one of the most important items needed to be evaluated.

4-While in the bone we have another two items which are the pattern of bone destruction and the type of periosteal reaction.

5-In the lesion itself, look for number of the lesions, its location, its matrix and density.

6-All these factors are discussed previously in post 2-1-1 and 2-1-2.

-Age:
-# of lesions:
-Location of lesion:
-Matrix of lesion:
-Density of lesion:
-Pattern of bone destruction:
-Type of periosteal reaction:
