associated with cloudy increased soft tissue density due to
the urate crystal tophi typical of gout
Discussion
Gout is caused by the overproduction or
decreased excretion of uric acid, or both
Uric acid crystals accumulate in the soft tissues
and synovium leading to joint inflammation and
Destruction
Common sites include the big toe
and olecranon fossa
The large erosions are
periarticular and result in "overhanging edges
