Bone Infection

There is soft tissue swelling and

  subcutaneous emphysema (air) at the

 distal fourth and fifth tarsal's.

There is frank bony destruction of the

medial distal fifth tarsal.

There is subtle destruction of the lateral

cortical border of the distal fourth tarsal.

These are the classic plain film findings

 for osteomyelitis
